TR Would like to thank the Green Bay Packers for participating in the 2008 NFL Season

Please take your commemorative Lombardi trophy and Super Bowl collectors programs and have a nice off-season (just make sure you beat the Lions should they be 0-15 the last week).

Meh, the Packers aren't out of it. Mind you, they definitely haven't helped themselves as of late (the game-ending FG miss against Minnesota, the OT loss in Tennessee, that abortion of a goal-line push today in the 4th quarter). And they've certainly done a bad job of winning close games. 1-4 in games decided by 7 or less. Not good.

The Packers winning out wouldn't be unthinkable. The only team they have on their schedule with a better record than they do is the Bears, and the Bears got blown out a few weeks ago in Green Bay.

The Vikings have a far tougher schedule than either the Bears or the Packers. If the Vikings lose tonight I think we can bury them. They're not making up/holding ground against the Cards, Giants, and Falcons, while the Packers/Bears each have Houston and J-ville on the dance card.

If the Packers beat the Bears and Lions, they'll win any/every division tiebreaker in front of them, and that's the only playoff spot the NFC North is getting this year.

So begrudgingly, I must root for the Vikings tonight, if only because they already have two division losses and are far more likely to fold in the stretch.

Assuming that the Bears actually show up for the Packers game, that's hardly a gimmie.

Green Bay has quality at the skill positions on offense and defense, but the line-play on both sides have been sub-par.

When your pass rush has all the rush of a sundial, it's a problem (with all apologies to Kampmann, who just doesn't have help). Add in that Green Bay can't run or stop the run consistently ....and it's not a formula that's condusive to running the table.

(Particularly for a team that has lost 4 of its last 5 games.)

My one hope is that they aren't the team that blows the perfect season; 0-16 must happen!
